Taken at Tropical Sea World, near Haikou City,
the capital of Hainan Island.

Haikou Millennium Tower

Haikou Millennium Tower, located within the
Tropical Sea World, has a rather nice little cafe at the top.

And here's me inside that cafe!

Tropical Fruit

Me picking some tropical fruit ... forget what they're
called, something like "bolomir" before a tropical storm started!

Dongjiao

I'm told there used to be a nice beach here, but
it's been taken over by fishing boats and is now nowhere near as nice.

Volcanic Gardens
59K
Gardens grown around an extinct volcano. You could actually descend into
the very crater of the volcano which last erupted 10,000 years ago.

Ferry Crossing

One of those car ferries where you park your car and you're carried
across the river .... or otherwise face a long drive round.

Tropical Botanical Garden

This is me in front of a "Travellers Plant" - so-called
because it contains a lot of water and thrirsty travellers would
break its branches to get some water.

Chinese Restaurant

A friends-and-family gathering at a Chinese restaurant at a rather
nice hotel. We had our own private function room for the occasion.

Nanshan Notices

Nanshan ... Buddhist Cultural Centre. This noticeboard giving the
regulations had some rather interesting English. It doesn't come
out in the photo so I've reproduced the text beneath the photo.

Sanya Beach Beauty
67K
Sanya, in the South of Hainan, has some lovely beaches. By the looks
of things, they are almost all unspoilt. It's strange to see
tropical beaches totally devoid of people, I can tell you!
Yalong Bay
107K
Yalong Bay ... a lovely beach again plus this monument ... along with
lots of shops you can't browse because as soon as the shop assistants
see you looking at anything they try to hard-sell it to you!
Beach Rocks
66K
One side says, "Hainan dao" and the other "Taiwan dao."
"Dao" is "Island" in Mandarin, so at least it's nothing rude!
I hope!

Seven-Finger Mountain
101K
This mountain is in the centre of the island, and can be climbed
easily enough by a well-built stepway leading all the way to the top.
